USING COLOUR AND CONTRAST TO CREATE BETTER BUILDINGS TO WORK AND PLAY IN
10am-11am

Colour shapes the way we see the world and means different things to different people. Everyone has a unique personal and emotional response to colour and it changes the way a space feels and works. In this seminar, explore how to create appealing spaces that people enjoy to work and play in. It is more than a symphony of interesting, harmonious and beautiful colours, practical places are achieved quickly using contrast and colour application in a thoughtful way.

AN OLYMPIAN TASK: ROB WADDELL ON KEEPING OUR ATHLETES SECURE AND ON TRACK IN RIO
11am-12pm

Rob has just returned from Rio as the Chef de Mission of the NZ Olympic Games team, a role he also held at the 2012 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Hear Rob speak about the challenges of delivering successful sporting campaigns and the importance of good planning, security, and management within the complex Olympic and Commonwealth Games environments.

ADDING AI TO ATP: OPTIMIZING ENERGY USAGE IN HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILDINGS
12pm-1pm

Once something out of a sci-fi movie, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an integral part of facility operations. Smart technologies have the ability to not only process mass amounts of data but use the information strategically to meet desired outcomes. This is enabling the successful optimization of energy consumption – and the creation of free cash flow – even in already high-performing buildings.

The Australian Technology Park (ATP) in Sydney, for example, despite already having a 5.5 NABERS score, is using a cloud-based, intelligent energy management platform to optimize HVAC power consumption in the building occupied by NICTA.

PANEL DISCUSSION: BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN DESIGN AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
1pm-2pm

It’s a frustration shared by many in the field of FM - the disconnect between the design of a building and its ongoing management.

FMANZ brings together some of the many professionals involved in building design, construction and management to answer the question: How do we bridge the gap between the various parties to ensure a facility operates as efficiently and effectively as possible going forward? Panel discussion, moderated by Mark Sinclair from FM Concepts.

NABERSNZ - WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT CAN HELP YOU SAVE MONEY AND IMPROVE EFFICIENCIES
2pm-3pm

Looking to reduce your energy costs and improve your competitiveness? Then you need to know about NABERSNZ, a government-endorsed tool used to rate and improve the energy efficiency of New Zealand’s office buildings. Learn what the NABERSNZ Certified Star Rating means and how it shows your building's energy performance compared to others; find out what rating might apply to your building or tenancy; and hear about some of the NABERSNZ-rated buildings and their journey to achieve a Certified Rating.

INTELLIGENT BUILDINGS AND SMART CITIES – SOLVING IOT CHALLENGES WITH LORAWAN
3pm-4pm

Offices and commercial spaces are undergoing a smart transformation connecting and linking HVAC, lighting, environmental sensors, and security and safety equipment, along with external inputs such as the smart grid and weather.

User-driven and automated business processes can now leverage real-time IoT information from people, systems and devices to maximize resource efficiency, reduce cost and risk, and increase visibility across all operations.

Part of solving IoT challenges is to provide a new range of LoRaWAN enabled sensors for the Smart Metering, Intelligent Building and Smart City market. This new solution will allow building managers to achieve higher comfort, greater energy efficiency in monitoring energy and water consumption.

DESIGNING YOUR WORKSPACE CULTURE
4pm-5pm

Great design in a workplace provides your staff with the fundamentals and support of privacy, collaboration and productivity. All very different attributes to a space but without all three, your work culture is unbalanced. Commercial Interior design is a constant evolution with how we work now, and how to design for the future.

WHY USING KNX IS EASY
10am-11am

In an age where natural resources are becoming scarce and at the same time the effects of climate change are globally becoming apparent, more emphasis is being placed on achieving higher energy efficiency in buildings.  At the same time the ‘connected world’ concept is driving technology companies to provide solutions that will allow true convergence of a building infrastructure.

In order to achieve convergence, a standardization of technology platforms is essential across multiple building management disciplines in order to provide a seamless solution. To ensure a future proof environment, standardization at the AS/NZS and/or IEC levels is preferable along with multi-vendor supply channels. The benefits of standardization ensure true convergence of building management controls along with a guaranteed interoperability of multi-vendor systems, along with competition of vendor solutions.

Buildings account for more than 40% of global energy use and 21% of greenhouse gas emissions, so the reduction of energy use in this sector can play an important part in our overall energy costs and environmental footprint.

(R)EVOLUTION OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND SYSTEM INTEGRATION
11am-12pm

Morris Miselowski – the man that can see your Business future

No one – not even the biggest and most established corporations are safe and we’re all just one innovation, or technology, away from becoming irrelevant or even worse, extinct

CYBER SECURITY IN FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
2pm-2:45pm

Hackers pose a threat to building automation systems. It is essential for a business’ IT department and facility department to work together to close potential avenues vulnerable to a security breach. Managers might not fully understand or realise the interconnection between building automation systems and an IT network. Peter Bailey, GM of Aura InfoSec highlights the risks and potential outcomes of cyber security breaches on a building automation system and addresses the importance of having a robust cyber security plan in place.

REDUCING OPERATIONAL COSTS WITH PHOTOLUMINESCENT TECHNOLOGY
3pm-4pm

Having no wires and no batteries, Photoluminescent Technology allows for significant savings, not only because of the initial cost outlay, but also the huge reduction to a virtually nil ongoing maintenance cost.
