Matt Meredith
Matt Meredith is digital design and delivery manager at Auckland District Health Board. He sits on the BIM Auckland committee and is affiliated to the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, Society of Digital Engineering (CIBSE SDE).
Originally from an industrial plant and pipe systems design background, focused on large-scale mining, petrochemical and FMCG turnkey projects, after 12 years Matt decided to take up a different challenge and apply his skillset the building services field.
Over the next three years he filled the role of BIM lead on various healthcare, education, residential and civic projects. Today Matt heads up the charge for improved digital engineering workflows, practices and processes within Auckland DHB’s Facilities & Development team.
With healthcare infrastructure being critical to social progress, Matt leverages the benefits of BIM and digital engineering to employ data-centric solutions around design, construction, maintenance and operation.
Better utilisation of BIM can unlock many of the cost and programme challenges currently facing the New Zealand construction sector, as well as providing benefits across the life of the building.
However, a large number of the industry’s current projects are falling short of optimal BIM usage. Jasmax’s Melanie Tristram, Beca’s Andrew Field and Assemble’s Steve Davis – who have collectively authored the third edition of the New Zealand BIM Handbook – will facilitate a lively discussion around the industry’s adoption of the technology and the collaborative behaviours required to ensure clients receive accurate, timely and meaningful data.
