Rod Dale – Group Technical Manager at The Drug Detection Agency (TDDA)

Rod is a former New Zealand Police Officer, qualified as a Detective and served in the Drug Squad where he was involved in numerous operations that included investigating national and international drug dealing syndicates and targeting New Zealand’s organised crime groups.

Rod left the Police in early 2006 and was involved in the early years of the Drug Detection Agency (TDDA) where it has grown from a one man operation to become the market leader in New Zealand and Australia for drug and alcohol testing and education services with over 44 franchises, 150+ team members and 55+ specialist on-site testing vehicles operating throughout Australia and New Zealand 24/7.

Rod has had various roles within TDDA over the years including that of Board Member (TDDA Auckland Branch), Director, Risk & Compliance Manager and Group Technical Manager.

More recently, the increased use of oral fluid testing in both Australia and New Zealand has created some issues for the industry around compliance and quality. Since 2015, Rod is a committee member for the AS 4760-2006 Oral Fluid Standard currently under revision, and also represents the American Drug And Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA). Rod is also a member of the National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association (NDASA).

Rod provides industry lead focus with a great depth of knowledge of industry requirements, compliance and overarching quality perspectives; he regularly attends various industry groups as a keynote speaker and represents industry at various union negotiations on a wide range of drug and alcohol testing matters including oral fluid.
