Roy Malto

Roy Malto

Roy arrived in New Zealand from the Philippines in 1997 for a brief stay, which has lasted 20 years. Roy was training for internal medicine when the opportunity came to shift into information technology supporting the community laboratory system in Auckland.

The next nine years were spent working in health IT with HealthAlliance in information systems, processes and project management across the three Auckland District Health Boards. The role of equipment and asset manager provided a new challenge to manage the $18 million equipment refresh for Middlemore Hospital, which involved requirements and workflow validation, equipment procurement, hospital design input, and the commission and install of systems.

As systems development manager, there are new and exciting challenges to use technology in healthcare and employ innovative approaches to improve health delivery.
